What will i need to prepare for coming home ferret?
Im going to be getting a ferret and i was wondering what i would need to prepare before he gets home?
I fully acknowledge that ferrets need a lot of attention, have an oder, cant be fed fruit(are carnivores), are not for small children, need at least 18 hours of sleep, house has to be ferret proof, needs shots and vet care, and need lots of exercise.
I am still a little foggy on what type of food to get and i know that for the bedding not to use any wood shavings and not to use cat litter for litter because its bad for there respiratory system.
And any other info i should know please add.
Thank you

Woohoo! You’ve done your research! Congrats for being responsible! For food, the best food brands that I know off the top of my head are Innova Evo Ferret (or Innova Evo Feline, there’s only like, 2 minor differences in the ingredients list), Wysong, and Zupreem. Totally Ferret is okay, too. Marshall’s is crap, if the ferret you get is being fed it, please switch their food. (Gradually, of course!) The other thing that I would make sure to know is that you should only bathe them when they NEED a bath (usually 2-3 times a year) and how to discipline your new fert if they bite. (Scruff them, hiss, and drag their butt on the floor for about 1-3 feet.) A good cage for your ferret would be the wonderful Ferret Nation. Most ferret owners ( I am one of them) swear that it’s the best cage available at the moment. I also suggest that you join a ferret forum. Everyone there loves ferrets and have valuable information to give you and will love to share their stories. Here are my favorite forums:

Good luck!!!!
Oops, I wanted to share with you my favorite places to shop for ferret things. I get all my supplies here:

I am 12 years old and I have 2 ferrets. A little boy and a little girl. Just so you know if you want to get more than 1 they come spayed and neutered. For food I recommend Marshalls Premium Ferret diet. It makes the poop stink less. You can get it at your local pet store. Also, whatever you do NEVER get Nutriphase ferret food. It sucks. My ferrets refused to eat it. And when they did eat it their poop stank so bad it made my sister throw up. As for bedding they like to snuggle. So on normal summer days I like to put old beach towels in the cage that I don’t use any more. Also, I took an old doggy bed that my yorkies didn’t use anymore and put it in their cage. They absolutely love it!!! You can also include hammoks that hang from the top of the cage. For the cold winter days I put in a hammok lined with fleece. Also I have some hammoks that look like prymids that are lined with fleece. To add some extra warmth I fluff up a normal old baby blanket and put it in the doggy bed. As for litter boxes and stuff like that if you are buying a kit (baby ferrets) you might have trouble litterbox training. I recommend buying a two story ferret cage. Put the ferrets bedding and food on the top and the litter boxes on the bottom. To help the ferret learn scold it when it makes the mistake. Scold it at the minute it makes the accident and put him/her in the litterbox. DO NOT SCOLD THE FERRET AFTER IT MAKES THE MISTAKE!!!!!! He/She will not remember what He/She did. This will make Him/Her sad. Ferrets will not pee/poop in the place where they eat/sleep so do not worry about putting a litterbox in this area it will continue to be unused. If you buy a two story cage fill each of the four corners with a litterbox. The best litter to put in a litterbox is pelletted litter.
If you need to tell a Hob and a Jill apart (boy and girl) boys look like they have a bump on their belly that looks like an outie belly button. Girls do not have this.

EXTRA INFO
Ferrets are family pets in more than 395,000 American househols. Experts believe that ferrets were domesticated 2,000 years ago in Europe, where they were used for hunting small game or controlling rodents.
Male ferrets are called "Hobs"; female ferrets are called "Jills"; baby ferrets are called "Kits"; and a group of ferrets is called a "business."
Members of the Mustelidae family, ferrets are related to minks, polecats, weasels, and otters.
Hope you have lots of fun with your new Ferrets and I hope this helps.
